second time i got that bsod both times during microsoft anti-spy scan,of course thats first thing i do so i dont know if the scan has anything to do with the bsod. both times says beginning dump of physical memory, and just sits there so i restart and now i have message saying 'disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. ' how that is a problem i dont have system disk if we are talking about the cd, i had the computer wiped and 2k reinstalled back in spring.

if i can use this computer (w/98se) and download a boot disk and use it on the sick one (win2k) maybe we are okay.
    help

I think you have a hardware problem!
Open your box and then check the IDE cable and hard drive power connector.
Restart the computer in safe mode (press F8 before POST screen) and check your disk with the defrag from windows.

run a chkdsk on the drive there may be a config issue.

well i turned the 2k on and no sign of boot disk failure, came right up and im running microsoft antispyware as i type this just to see what happens.because that is usually where the stop 0x77 happens and it just finished first time in three days. i shall cross my fingers and hope that whatever it was is just a quirk.

    thanks for you prompt help
    :)
