I'm using Outlook Express 5, with the Task Bar at the bottom. Whenever I try to open a piece of mail, it shows up as small gray window or button in the Task Bar. That's normal. But lately it also shows as a blue button above the System Tray, and I have to maximize it to see the mail. It's overlaying the right end of the horizontal scroll bar. Anyone know if there's a setting I can change? About this same time, every message I insert into the message window has double-spaced lines.

Have you tried doing a repair of OE? Control panel, add/remove, and repair should be an option.

If you are using version 5.0, you will do yourself a favor if you upgrade to 5.5 or even to 6.x if your PC can run it. However, do the repair first if you opt to upgrade.

I followed your steps. Either Repair isn't there or I don't know what I'm looking at. I'll look into downloading a new version.

I located a PC running the same version as yours and sure enough, no repair option for OE. Later IE versions don't even show OE as a seperate app and I'd forgotten how 5.0 looked.

A repair of Internet Explorer should also (hopefully) repair Outlook Express.

If not, you will be best off to uninstall OE before installing a newer version. The uninstall should not remove your stored email or address book but to be safe, make copies under a different name.
