Can't Download Things Off The Internet Problem

Whenever I go to download something, the window pops up and after a couple of seconds an error pops up and says that it couldn't download the file and the website could either not be found or isn't available. Does anyone have a solution??

 

Do you have a firewall running? If so, check its settings. Some firewalls are configured by default to block certain file types from being downloaded.

 

I can't download ANY files.

 

and..............................do you have a firewall running? If so which one? What browser are you using, IE, Firefox etc? How are you connecting to the internet, dial-up, cable, etc?

Well, that is a different problem and as TJ-IT has said the solution could be different for different versions of IE and Windows.
Are you able to reach any websites? And I think we need some of the actual error messages. And perhaps tell us some of the sites where you are having the problems.
