I have a WRT54G router. A few days ago a red light came on from the Diag part of the router. I just wanted to know is this a serious problem? if so how do you fix it? Thanks for any help.

If a restart of the device didn't help I would say be prepared to purchase another one.

What would have caused the red light to go on?

Well, according to your users manual, the red diag light goes on every time the device powers up and should turn off when that is finished. If it does not, the manual says to look in appendex A for details.

See Chapter 2 Getting to know the router.

This may or may not apply to you. But I had problems with a Linksys BEFSR41 Wired Router not working properly.

At night and when we were away I was shutting off the power to the Modem and the Router. Many times I had to restart everything ( one device at a time and in the proper order ) to get it all working properly.

So I changed things around a bit and powered them from a completely separate source than the PCs and now leave them on full time. No problems since.
