Once I install Adobe Reader 7.0, I lose the ability to open and look at attachments to my emails, in any format(.doc,.pdf,.txt, etc). Not only that, but I can no longer send or compose a letter. I can fill in the fields of subject, to, etc., but the cursor freezes when I attempt to write in the body of the letter.
Once I uninstall Adobe 7.0 via the add/remove icon in the control panel, everything reverts back to normal.
I really need Adobe as I receive quite a few emails with .pdf attachments.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Try Foxit rather than adobe. The reader is also free but the download is less than 1Mb rather than the 27Mb+ for Adobe's version. It runs faster and just generally seems to work better for me.

I run Outlook 2003 on a couple of PCs at home and Outlook XP (2002) on a bunch of machines at work and Foxit has been completely problem free on all of them.

Although I never had a problem running Adobe Reader 7 with OL 2003, I have also switched to using the Foxit reader instead, as the Adobe reader is one big pile of bloatware (IMNSHO).

    Fox Reader

Thanks for the information and help. I'll try the fox reader. Do you know if you are able to write on the PDF file using Fox?

Foxit has an editor available. It is not free but is lots less expensive than the Adobe editor.

The reader is purely a viewer and cannot do any editing.

    Foxit alternative to Adobe

I just read all of the posts and replies in the original thread that ROCKIT started. Some mention that it downloads and runs right from the download. I followed Newt's link and what I downloaded is a .zip file. Did I get the wrong one?

From the Readme file that came with Foxit
I unzipped mine into Program Files and it made a new folder named Foxit with the FoxitReader.exe and a couple of text files for the readme and the license agreement.

Thank you and thank you. It works and I can write on the file. The download was so fast compared to Adobe I did not think it occurred. It took about 2 seconds. Thanks again
