    but with a problem..

ok so my motherbaord blew on me last week and now that i have bought a new one (totally different) and installed windows xp home on a new hard drive also, using my old hard drive as a slave, i wish to copy all my files from my account on it but when i try to do this all i get is "Access Denied" there is a password on that account, so is there a way to disable it (if it is the problem) or a way to get into my hard drive t get my files so i can format it and use it the way i want to?
    thanks
    Lex

Glad we were able to help - you picked the right BBS first time :D Stick around - there's a lot to be learned here in a friendly atmosphere.

BTW - did you know that WindowsBBS is a Microsoft Community Website - halfway down the All Related Communities - right hand column

    Yes - search that drive for * dbx files - folders.dbx, inbox.dbx, foldernames_you_have_created.dbx & so on.

Open OE on your current drive File > Import > Messages and point OE to the location on your other hard drive where you found the *.dbx files.

To ensure that you do not overwrite the folders already on your new drive either rename the folders - if you can, or create a new folder - inboxold and drag the files currently in the Inbox into that new folder. When you have imported the folders from the OE message store on the old drive you can drag them back to where they belong.

BTW - not a good idea to add a further question to an existing post by way of Edit -this does not count as a new post and will not appear on the New Posts List and the other posters in that thread will not receive email notification. I chanced by and noticed the edit.
