    Hi Everyone,

With all the skuttlebutt regarding Microsoft being in bed with Clairia and then severing ties with such but still having its antispyware beta program identifying Clairia with an Ignore label, I have to admit to being a very confused puppy.

So... Spy Eliminator? Counter Spy? Spy Sweeper? OR... MS Antispyware beta??? Which would give the best protection? I don't really care about free versus you pay. I want a rock solid spyware protection program.

    Thanks.

    James,

Just my opinion, but a combination of a couple might be your best bet. I use Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Spyware Blaster. They take care of anything that comes my way. I haven't had any problems since running all three.

    Hi James
IE SPYAD is also good to add to Mikes list, It adds quite a few restricted sites to IE's security settings.

James: The latest issue of PC Magazine just arrived, and it contains tests of 7 antispyware programs. The winner was Spyware Doctor 3.2 ($29.95 direct). No free programs (such as Ad-Aware and Spybot, which I use along with NAV and ZA) were included in the tests.

Proof is in the pudding. I use Spyware Blaster and Spbot Search and Destroy, and AVG Free to protect my computer and I have no problems. I should have problems. I do things that are supposed to attract problems.

James--This comparison may be getting a bit old now,
    http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm#detections
As has been said there generally is no problem to having more than one Spyware detector installed on your PC. Many run only when a scan is activated, anyway. This is not true of Firewalls, especially, and perhaps Antivirus programs. Generally you should have only one, each, of those installed and running.
