    Hello everyone,
I've looked, and looked, and am at a loss by now...and tired!

I'm a graphic artist with a pretty good knowledge of networking. I have three machines hooked to a Linksys wireless router (direct cabling). Workgroup has been set up since January. Three machines could connect fine, share fine, communicate fine...up until today. Can't access ANY files, printers or anything attached to the other machines. Nothing has changed, Guest account's enabled (I'm using WinXP Pro), File and print sharing is enabled. Hell, I even turned off the firewall temporarily!

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why I'm getting the error above. Problem is, I have a boatload of rendered animations on my laptop that I have to get over to my desktop. I can go the crossover cable route (not til tomorrow though), but I need to figure out why the machines can't communicate.

All machines show in the Workgroup, just when I go to each one I get the above message.

Any assistance you could provide would be great. Thanks.

P.S. Please pardon me if I didn't provide enough info, my brain's numb from searching!

    -Marc

If this was working until now, I would look for any recent changes that may be blocking access, including Service Packs & Updates.

I'm guessing the laptop does not have a burner to move files over? Any FTP servers you could upload laptop files and download to the desktop? Could upload to YouSendIt, a free 1GB file drop. Just suggestion until your network comes around.

Have you checked in Folder Options you might have changed the filesharing in there. Happened to me once when I changed a wireless card it reverted to simple filesharing.
Or maybe you could go to the desktop and move the files from the laptop?

Lightstorm - what is your situation now? All well or still broken?

Still broken, at this point. I think there's too many little things that change on a machine daily/weekly to try and pinpoint it (since the error's so **** vague!), so I'm going to use a crossover cable to get my data, and just ghost my machines.

Thanks everyone for attempting to help me out.
