My computer which runs Windows 98 has a problem logging on to secure sites. This problem comes and goes and is not constant. When the computer has the problem and you try to log on to most secure sites the "this page cannot be displayed" page comes up. Some of the mentioned sites that cannot be logged on to are Hotmail, Microsoft Messenger, credit card secure area, UPS shipping information and various other pages.
This problem disappears for no apparent reason and returns in the same manner.
    Thanks and Regards
    Keith

keith1--Intermittent ( "sometimes ") problems, which are the hardest to fix.
My first reaction is that you should phone your ISP, especially if you are paying for the service. You are not getting what you are paying for.
Here, however, are some standard potential fixes, which may or may not apply to an intermittent problem, and depend on what other programs are installed.
Put the problem sites into IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tabTrusted Sites. (Uncheck the box "Require Server Verification... ")
You are losing the cookies for these secure sites. Do you run any program which deletes cookies, or does not permit accepting cookies in the first place? See IE Tools|Internet Options|Privacy tab.
You may have spyware. Check the procedure here

Do you run Norton security programs?
