I've never really looked into it but I do believe there are ways to "stack" modems. However, I do believe that you need a seperate phone line for each modem.

I can't really give any real advise.

    Hi Dussman,

I can get about 4 to 4.5Kbs on downloads...equates to about 1Mb every 4 minutes.

The drivers that came with my modem let me connect at about 38000-39000bps. I now use generic drivers (drivers from the chipset manufacturer) and can get 50333-50666. The connection speed will also be determined by the distance you are from the telephone exchange. Maximum will be 52000bps (you cannot connect at 56K in reality. Edit: I think that has now improved with the V.92 type modems).

For downloads I use Download Accelerator. It will search for mirror sites and maximise the download speed. Apparently some download managers can improve the transfer rate, but they are not supposed to because it drags off other people's connections and upsets the webserver. I have Download Accelerator set to standard settings.

Where you download from will also have an effect. We here in Sydney have a good cable connection directly to the US. I can connect to US sites better than some Australian sites and lot better than Asian sites.

Two modems, I think that would mean two phone lines and two ISP connections...your call :) .

    Matt

The Only way I know of is with a ISDN modem and to phone line check with your ISP. one line is set to send and one is set to receive. it will cost more then it is worth for the home users. not worth the pain of setting it up.
