"My Computer" behaving weird [My Computer slow to respond]

    hey. i don' t know what has happened to My Computer. Whenever I open it i get a searchlight and it stalls for sometime (around 90 seconds) before it finds the items and then my viewing options are messed up (like arrange in groups etc.) i have tried rebooting, and system restore to a previous time. i have also virus and adaware scanned. this just started happening all of a sudden and i cannot think of what happened. any suggestions?

    have u tried running the sypware scan in safe mode? do the problems occur in safe mode?

    ricepicker - Welcome to the Board :)

    There may be corruption in a System file - suggest you run System File Checker ....

    Start > Run > Type in sfc /scannow - note the space before the / and have your XP CD handy. SFC will run and exit without any closing dialogue - to see which files, if any, were replaced look in Event Viewer.
