Is there any way to block a user from being able to shut off a PC -- or replace the Shut Down command with "Sleep "? I have a case where someone is consistently turning off a computer, multiple times a day, and I would like to be able to prevent that person from being able to turn the computer off. It could be turned off from the Welcome Screen, or from an admin profile, but not from this user's account. Is this possible? I have XP Home, SP2.

This is easily done in Pro with Local Policies, but I don't know about Home. Maybe with a registry setting?

Or is there a way to keep the "Turn off computer" on the Start Menu but not have "Turn Off Computer" or "Restart" be one of the options in the resulting menu -- i.e. the user has to choose between Hibernate or Sleep?

I haven't tried this myself, this link has the instructions on how. Only do it at Hkey_Current_User, not Hkey_Local Machine.
    http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/146/
You will need to first change the Limited User to an Administrator account, log on as that user, then make the changes in the registry, then log off and then change back to a Limited. A system reboot will be required.
Note: the Shutdown option on the Welcome screen may disappear with XP Home.

Thanks for sending the link. Do you know if this will disable both "Turn Off" and "Restart "? One of the users of the system turns the computer off and/or restarts it in order to get out of programs... I don't see a reason to have the computer rebooted fifteen times a day so that's why I'm looking to disable this on a per-user basis.
