Kids and digital cameras .... they want to share pics with friends.

Looking for free service to share pictures on the web.
Easy to upload, manage, hopefully a few clever display options.
    Thanks

This one is worth a look also.

    Picasa2

Added Note: Haven't actually tried some of the web stuff/photo sharing and some is still in Beta testing (GMail) so I'm not sure if there will be subscriptions later on for some of the sharing features. I have been using Picasa on my machine for a few months and I have quit using any of the other photo programs I have (MGI Photosuite, Adobe). The photo edit feature is a bit limited but suits my purposes fine.

Your isp likely gives you free web space that you can upload files to using built in FTP of Internet Explorer. MS makes a Power Toy called Slideshow that will automatically create a slideshow of any images you want or an entire directory of images, and then output the files and folders that you can drag+drop upload to your web space.

    :D THANK YOU :D
HTML Slide Show is a Gem of a program.

Yes, I do use my web space. Charter is stingy, only 20 MB of space. My normal practice for digital pic's .. originals are saved, then create a duplicate folder with name "smallJPG" added to original folder name. This folder contains all the same pics/file names, but batch processed via Irfanview to email size (from 1.6MB per frame to 30/60 KB's per frame). I put "smallJPG" duplicate folders on the kids computer for email pic's .. and local viewing ... loads into Irfanview fast ... also use this size for my web space.
The complaint I had with viewing from our web site ... one pic at a time, backup, select, view, backup, select, view was annoying for them (I could use more colorful descriptions of them (kids) also, but that is a different story). HTML Slide Show has a nice interface for viewing many pictures.
So far, just tested MS HTML slideshow from my local HD source views. First restriction -- IE browser viewing only per Active X requirement. Not a real problem. Also IE must be put site on "allow" list for popup's at web view. But how do I allow local view/HD to be in allowed?? ... always have to go through "allow block content" click and then again are you sure / click on "Yes" button. The popup block/allow list only accepts web site's, not local HD paths.

Do any of the sites mentioned allow access by anyone to an image's URL? That is what I like to use for posting an image on a website that does not have procedures for uploading of images. (This site does).
Presently, I use Sony's MyImageStation, which allows accessing the image by URL without password, but next month Sony will start charging.
    Any recommendations? Especially for free?

    Hi Jim

You could check out Imageshack, one of the suggestions in this thread, I have not tried or used it. Check out ImageShack Terms of Service and glance through common questions. As long as you do not post any "prohibited type of pictures ", they don't specifically say you can not use them for a URL/pic host provider (but do check out the "Domain" verbage). Let us know once you get through all the fine print.

Dennis L--Thanks. I was a little bit put off by the fact that Image Shack uses a tracking cookie as mentioned in their Privacy statement. But if nothing better comes along, I will try them.
