my thunderbird Sent mail folder has only 7 columns for sorting by:

    thread
    attachment
    subject
    read
    recipient
    junk
    date

what i really, really need is a column that allows me to sort my Sent mail by sender (because i have multiple POP mail accounts for my one thunderbird user).

the Inbox has all of the above 7 columns plus an 8th -- a sender column.

does anyone know how i can add a sender column to my Sent mail so i can sort my catch-all Sent mail by sender? (i believe this feature is available with Outlook Express so it must be built into thunderbird somewhere. i just can't find how to display it!)

    thank you!!

Running TB 1.0.6 -- not using default theme -- your view could be a little different.

It's there, just have to turn the view on.
From the header where all of the column names are listed, look at the extreme right edge (mine is right above the scroll bar control) you should see a colored square. Left click on little square, should bring up a dialog box. Notice in box, your current selected columns are 'ticked ". Find and click on "Sender ". You should now have Sender column in you view and available for sorting.

Dennis L, you are a genius!

i searched every thunderbird option and scoured their website as well as google and yahoo for that answer.

thank you to Sled, as well

thank you for your reply but, even though the menu selections you mentioned would allow me to sort by sender, i had no idea where one sender's messages ended and the next one started because the "sender" column was not visible.

Note, too, that you can align the columns in any order you choose, simply by clicking, holding, and dragging the column names.
