if there is a domain abc.com that has kerberos authentication and a child domain child.abc.com, if a trust is setup between the two domains, a user should be able to log onto abc.com and access file/email/printer resources on child.abc.com without authenticating again right?

    thanks!

The trust already exist, because is a child domain, so you have transitive trust between the two domains.
    No problem with authentications.

thats what i thought, but for some reason, if i log onto the child.abc.com domain through abc.com in the login screen, it'll want child.abc.com credentials. so if i try to access say a secured website on child.abc.com, it'd ask me to log on and i'd have to use child\user

with kerberos authentication, shouldn't it grant a ticket and allow me access without me having to authenticate again?
