Computer wont load, guard.tmp error

Computer wont load

i load up my computer and it says Error loading c:\windows\system 32\guard.tmp

after i click ok only my desktop loads no icons or any thing.

the list in order of process running are

You are infected with a trojan virus, go into Safe Mode and do a scan with your AV program.
When your computer is starting up, be tapping F8, then select Safe Mode and do a scan with AVG.
Find and delete these files while you are at it, they will be Hidden, so enable Show All Files in Windows Explorer. Go to Tools\Folder Options, click on the View tab to find where to do this.

Please note that there are legit files with names similiar to these.
Please post a HJT log if you can get into Normal mode after deleting these files.

This may not be the cause of the existing problem but, does this or does it not indicated a possibility of two Anti-Virus programs being installed. ( and MAYBE POSSIBLEY ) parts of each loading ?

Either that or both had been installed at some time or other and not one was removed completely.

Guard.tmp is a Look2me/VX2 file, and that's a nasty infection which attracts more malware. Please post a HijackThis log using the lastest version 1.99.1
