please help... I went home yesterday and found my computer restarting itself over and over. I run windows xp home edition. The screen says it won't start windows in order to prevent damage. It gives me some choices like restarting in safe mode, normal mode, etc.. but when I select any of them, it restarts and comes directly back to theat same screen.

I've hit f10, f1 and f8 when the computer restarts, but haven't been able to figure it out. I did get into a blue screen after awhile that said something and and an error message that said "invalid page fault in a non paged are ".

If any one can help please do. I'm at work now, so I can't try anything till tonight. I really need to save the files on my computer... Also, I have no back up disk or Windows XP cd. It didn't come with the computer... Thanks in advance.

    Hello kingryan,

MS reference on XP startup troubleshooting http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308041

See if you can mange to start System Restore from a command prompt http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304449&sd=tech

Also look at this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=46584 for an idea on how to backup your data. The fact that you don't have a XP cd is bad news - wish more people would be concious of that shortcoming when purchasing systems.

    Regards - Charles

thanks for the help. I'll try what I can, but I don't have any disks of any kind, so I'm limited. Anyone else??
