    Hi,
I have a relatively minor problem, I'm guessing. I use outlook express under comcast cable. I venture to only a few sites that appear to be benign. I have Win XP pro with all of the latest updates, am using IE6.0 with the latest updates, as well as Adaware, spybot, spyware blaster, a-squared, and AVG 7.0. Everything is pretty much ok with respect to the number of popups, and spam I receive. There is one recurring email that is really bugging me. It is always from a randomly generated first and last name, and the title is what appears to also be randomly generated english words, following no syntax rules. The latest example: "BartonLeary, was to have rennet tweeds" The body of the email is always the same, that is, offers to save money on prescription drugs, Viagra, cialis, ultram, soma, levitra.
How can I block this,or otherwise stop it from appearing? It is the only unsolicited piece of email I get, but, I see it almost daily, with a different name pair and subject line, but the body is always the same.
Are the 5 programs I have installed, and updated enough, or should I get some other blocker as well?
    Thanks,
    Vic

Set up a Message Rule, based on one of those emails, paying particular attention to words in the body of the text and set it to delete.

skaler2k--If that does not kill the spam, you could try sending it to Comcast.
Do not open the spam**. Highlight it, click OE File|Properties|Details|Message Source|copy all of it including headers. Create New Mail, address to both Spam@Comcast.net, and Abuse@comcast.net, put SPAM in the Subject line, copy the spammail into the body of the message. Send.
No guarantees but it might help. You will get back an auto-reply from spam@comcast.net, telling you what their requirements are to take action. Read it if you want, but I think you will find you have done everything.

** Some spam could download trojans, spyware, etc, just by opening it. The above method, even though you can read the mail, does not technically open the spam.

    spam coming through

Thanks Welshjim. I'll give it a shot, though I think this is just the beginning of a new wave of defeating the anti-spam designs. Today, I received a letter from a Henrietta Richards who is offering huge savings on Rolex watch copies. This one includes a photo of the watch. The letter is identical in format as the previous ten or so that offered savings on drugs: a real first and last name with a couple of english words in the subject line. I hope the folks at comcast can do something. I'm sure that Petec's Message Rule method would be quickly circumvented, especially with the inclusion of pictures.
Thanks very much for the help.
    Vic

skaler2k--You could try to figure out where the spam is coming from using this procedure for determining the actual sending email address
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,929898,00.asp
However, it is not an easy procedure, and I suspect these guys are changing email addresses all the time--like maybe for every email.
