External hard drive has changed drive letter from E to F causing chaos, please help!

hi there windows genius, please could you help?

when i plugged in a new digital camera, that became drive E, and my external hard drive previously E, became drive F. It's still drive F, even when the camera isn't plugged in. how can I get the hard drive back to being drive E? It has caused chaos with my itunes music program, because itunes can't find any of it's files because it's looking for a non-existant drive. If anyone has a solution i'd be very grateful. should i just uninstall the camera software?

Was the external HD plugged in when you added the digital camera?

If not, to avoid this sort of thing, when adding a new external device, have all previous devices plugged in. This needs to be done just that one time, once the new device is established, then it can be present by itself w/o the others present.
