    Hi there,

Just would like to know if anyone could kindly tell me how to set IE as default browser in netscape mail v7.x. I have tried what Ramona said setting the
user_pref( "network.protocol-handler.external.http ", true) in the "prefs.js ". It does work, however Netscape will also open at the same time. This is quite annoying, anyone pls tell me how to solve this problem. Many Many thanks.

    Ivan.

Netscape is a suite, comes with browser and email client. You could use a much smaller and robust email client by installing Thunderbird. It has no browser so IE would be the only browser it could open.

Although I never tried to make IE browser default, while NS is mail default, what Dennis says makes sense. I have Thunderbird a default, but I am using NS7.2, a link in it will not be opened by an external application. I works this way with any suites, i.e. a program which contains browser and mail

    Welcome to the Forum, ivanng!

    ivanng,

You are experiencing the default behavior of Netscape when another browser is set as the default. Netscape will open a blank page.

There is a Netscape extension called "Launchy " which will overcome this behavior. You might give that a try.
