    Hello bluepipe,

    what is a clean install
A clean install is a wiped disk and then a fresh install of the OS. The way to do that is with fdisk, which should be on the boot disk (floppy) if you created one. If not, go into Help&Support to find how to. Reference from MS on using fdisk http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q255867

have used copy disk to reinstall (me )
What you're going to need is a ME OS cd, not clear on what "copy disk" is. Do you have a WinME cd?

also if my name is still there will he have a problem with getting a ISP
Once having re-installed the OS per above, your name or any other data of yours won't be there.

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Gus,

    no floppy drive
Ok, here's what you're going to have to do if you want to do a clean WinME install:

Using another system with a cd-rw, create a WinME boot disc from this site http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm OEM version. Whether you do a clean install or not, a good idea to have the boot disk anyway.

On the laptop, go into the BIOS, on my desktop DELL, tapping the delete key on bootup gets me there, I don't have any idea what it would be on yours - could be F11, or one of the other F keys.

Once in the BIOS, set the primary boot device to cd, it probably already is. Have the boot cd in the drive on bootup and then you'll be able to run fdisk and after that, re-install the OS. This is provided of course that you have a WinME OS disc.

    Regards - Charles
