So I did a silly thing.

I let a friend use my computer to browse the web while I was out the room and come back to a spyware infested machine (dispite having SP2 with all the popup blockers and so forth on).

So anyway I remove the spyware using Ad-ware taking down the names of the offenders as I do and then manualy removing all traces left over.

Cue reboot and rescan and then a scan with Spybot for good measure... All clean.

So all working fine, computer speeding along like nothing happens. I feel like using a new program that requires net access so I need to open ports for it. Problem begin here!

I cannot access my router via http but can browse the files on it with ftp so a connection is there and interweb/network is working fine.
When I type in "10.0.0.2" (the routers IP which worked up untill yesterday) "http:///?%2010.0.0.2" comes up in the address bar and I get "The page cannot be displayed "

This has happened to me before but I forget how I fixed it.

I'll check the hosts file now just incase but I don't think that is likely.
(UPDATE: Nope; hosts file is fine)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for reading guys,
    Gary

(This is not strickly a network issue - network is fine and can access router from other machines - and I felt more spyware related hence why I stuck it here. Please let me know if you think I should shift it over to another section)

I am guessing the you had New.Net or something else that attaches files to your winsock. Would you post a HijackThjis log?
Get LSPfix.Exe, you may need it later if HJT shows a "Unknown file in LSP ". Not all files that appear there are bad ones, it is the one that was deleted and is referenced that may be causing the problem.
If you recognize the filename that appears in LSP as a bad one, click the "I know what I am doing ", and remove all instances of it.

Yes, post a log from HijackThis. It's possible you have a leftover BHO.

    In order for HJT to remove this entry;
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)
    you must do this first.
Go to Start/Run, type in Services.Msc and then press Enter.
    Locate this in the list,
    System Startup Service
Left click on it, and then Stop the service. Then right click on it, select Properties, set to Disable.
Then reboot, and then copy/paste these commands into Start\Run.
    attrib -r -s -h C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
    del C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
    rd /s /q c:\program files\cdm

These command delete bad files and a bad folder.
