Does this same memory limiter apply to mozilla also?

    From a previous thread:
    1. Type about:config into Firefox's Address Bar and press Enter.

    2. Right-click any row, then click New | Integer
Type or paste the following preference name into the dialog box that appears
(this is a hidden preference that doesn't exist in the Configuration Console
    until you create it):

    browser.cache.memory.capacity

    3. Click OK, then enter the following integer number into the next dialog box
This integer number represents 16 MB of RAM for the cache: 16000

    thanks,
    savagcl

    clif,

Firefox dynamically sets the browser.cache.memory.capacity, from the amount of RAM you have installed. If you're having a memory leak caused by Firefox, then you might want to add a setting to about:config.

Are you experiencing a memory leak?

Could you also give me the link for the thread to which you're referring?

    Ramona,

FF and MOZ had set the memory cap to 65000. I reset both to 16000 based
    on the link.
No memory leak that i know of (at present :) ).

I'm having the same (old) problem about incomplete loading of web pages so
i was trying to find the old thread about it since i forgot how it was fixed.

    Here's the link.

    thanks, Ramona,

    clif,

    To see the memory cache:
    Clear the Location Bar
    Type: about:cache

If you're talking about the Disk Cache setting, I set mine to 30,000 and I have 384 MB RAM. My system is now 5 yrs. old, so that really isn't much RAM by today's standard...

Do you periodically delete the Cache subfolder located in your Profiles folder? If not you really should. Also delete the XUL.mfl file often. I also delete the history.dat file on a frequent basis.

Here's how you fixed the incomplete page loading problem back in March:

    Ramona,

I knew you could find that fix if anyone could! I have it captured now in my
tricks folder. I delete the cache and history daily but deleting the XUL is one i
    didnt know about.

5 years!!!!!! I dont think i've ever had a system over 1 1/2 years. Firstly,
because of my job and keeping up with new tech, now i'm retired and so its a
habit (hobby) and an expensive one, at that. Good thing i have grand-
children to pass the old ones to.

    Thanks, Ramona.

    clif,

I just gave my Win95 box to one of my Grandsons. So I hear you on that deal, and I will probably give this to my other Grandson when I replace it.

Have you ever checked out this page: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/prevmaint.html

This will give you a few more tips on browser maintenance.

    Cheers!

    there.

Thanks, Ramona, I'll try to remember that,

    Clif,

I hope I didn't embarrass you, I just meant to tease you! I'm as guilty as anyone not paying attention to a Sticky on other Forums! :D Just goes to show you that they might not be all that useful?

    Not embarassed at all, Ramona.

At my age, a faulty memory is NOT a medical condition, its a requirement!

Your right, we all should pay more attention to the sticky's instead of jumping
    in first....

I think that's a requirement for me too, but I can't remember...
