setup cannot copy driver.cab

the above is the error message i am getting when trying to rebuild a dimension 4300 with a new hard drive. gets to the point where its copying files and then boom cannot copy driver.cab. cd is clean as a whistle not a scratch, no fingerprints nothing was in its protective case.

have tried different memory to no avail, have googled and tried what i found again to no avail. have a new psu on order to see if maybe that could be it. machine was in a storm the other night when the first problem the client had after the storm was the modem was no longer functional. when i got to the machine was getting a cmos message f1 to continue f2 to enter setup. when f1 clicked would go to the splash screen and then die. replaced the cmos battery and that is okay now but unable to install xp.

been in contact with and really they dont have much of a clue what is wrong. the 4 lights that dell machines have on the back panel are all green so am at a loose on this one.

ideas - thoughts would be appreciated.

 

please disregard my post cuz its fixed. as embassased this makes me feel but it was a bad xp cd fresh out of the shrink wrap. used one of my cd's and the install went through just fine. sure wasted a bunch of hours on such a simple but yet shouldnt have been problem.
