Internet Connection Sharing Error 799

    ????? Question. What am I missing or mis-reading ? Or just plain not understanding ?

    What has the LAN ( Local Area Network ) got to do with the WAN ( Wide Area Network) ? If the Router is the proper model and set up correctly the two should be two COMPLETELY separate things. One should not depend on the other.

    If you have things set correctly you should be able to get to the Internet from anyone machine without the other(s) ( in my case two ) being on. If you can't then things are not set up correctly.

    And also you should be able pull the Internet cable from the Modem ( or just shut the Modem down ) and still have the LAN.

    In fact last evening our cable went down for awhile ( no TV or Internet ) so my Wife and I played Cribbage and/or Sorry between two machines. ( I lost in both )

    In my way of thinking that is one of the BIG advantages to a Router.
