Even though .NET has been around for a long time, I never got it. Its Windows Update description says you don't need to download it unless you have applications that require .NET, and I had none.

But now I have two. I have .NET downloaded, along with its updates. As this is something I am unfamiliar with, any tips on getting it set up for best performance and security?

Here may be a good place to start - although I'm not at all sure that there is any setting up to do if it is only required for a program to run.

    Hotaru,

Not much you have to do with the .net framework. Windows Update will take care of any security updates when they are available. There still aren't a lot of programs that rely on the 'framework', but as you know there are a few. :D
Microsoft is hoping their new (still in development) Visual Studio .Net 2005 will spawn more program development using the .net framework. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
