I have a sony vaio whose HDD got crashed. I have got a replacement for it. All I have to boot from is a usb port. I have tried booting with USB floppy drive and usb cd drive without success.
I have tried to change the boot sequence but there is no provision for booting from usb in the Phoenix Bios setup utility.
How do I boot the system through USB so as to go on with my installation.
    Thanks

felixsinky - Welcome to the Board :)
With extreme difficulty, if at all. The problem is that the USB drivers are loaded by Windows so do not exist until Windows is running.

However there may be a solution here, scroll down to the bottom of the page for the 'accepted answer' ....
