Little over dramatic, lol Sorry...okay so for no apparent reason, seriously...I was dl'ing email yesterday evening, 18 to be exact and it locked up. No problems for years, nothing, no reason, zip. I had to reboot as it locked everything up. I checked webmail later thinking it was a virus, and the emails that were dl'ing in my OE on the webmail server were all just "normal" run of the mill stuff. Nothing suspicious. Bottomline - it's still not working. Things I've done - tried to repair IE from the Add/Remove option. Actually uninstalled OE, ran the Windows Update and had it install a new version, didn't fix the problem. Settings (POP and SMTP) haven't changed at all. Did some major maintenance, scans, clean ups, etc today - didn't help. Here's what happens...I open OE6, at the bottom it continually says "Connecting" but it never connects. Sometimes I can click on the Send/Receive button and it will load the Send status window for me before it locks up and I can see it says "Finding Host" but it never finds it. Then it will lock up, the entire software does. I Ctrl+Alt+Del and it says OE (not responding). I tried a scanreg/restore to the day before when it was working...nope, no help. And then finally check this out - I dl'ed Thunderbird (Firefox's email client) and it's doing the same thing! It won't send or receive so there's a problem somewhere here....can anyone help me please? Sorry for the long winded email but wanted to provide all the details I could - thanks tons and tons for any help at all!!!!

Hello nmpoet. I have had the exactly the same symptoms happen from time to time, usually for a short period. In most (all) cases it is a problem with the ISP's mail server. Nothing much you can do about it, just wait it out. Have you called your ISP to see if they acknowledge having a problem? If not suggest you do so.

Post back and let us know what happens.

Thanks John....I'm gonna probably hunt down those SBC folks if that's the case, lolol Man, I've done so much to my poor lil antiquated computer since yesterday trying to resolve this issue and if it really does "work itself out" oh man...well, I'll be happy I'm sure but you know. Anyhow, I have it configured on my computer at work too (my personal email) and it downloaded fine there this morning (I didn't stay there all day, yay) and of course, I'm getting webmail just fine at the website from my browser here. Those are the reasons I thought it was my computer itself but if this is all familiar to you...well, maybe I will wait it out and stop freaking, lol I'm just way to attached to this thing - I could probably use the space away from it, hehe Thanks again for your reply.
