Is there anyway at all to change the ip address I have through my cable company. I was told to unplug the connection overnight and shut down the computer. When I do that it just pulls in the same ip address. Is there anyway around this? Please Help!

The Modem will have to be turned off for quite a while. It could take as much as 24 hours for the lease to expire on the IP address.

    No,
It will renew the same IP.

This only works with a dial-up connection Grunty.

As to your question beforethefall, if you have a router you could set it to assign a differnt IP each time you connect.

If you don't have a router there is another way, but it requires several restarts and is some what complicated if you don't know what you're doing.

If you would really like to know, let me know. :)

Also, if your ISP is Rogers Cable, they now offer a Dynamic IP address for most areas.

I'm not sure of all your ISPs information aswell, you'd have to let me know if you wanted me to help you anymore.
