    Hello Staff and Readers,
I can't locate information on my Dell 4600, Windows XP 5.1.2600, Service Pack 2, Build 2600 MOTHERBOARD specifications. A recently downloaded Motherboard Monitor #5 utility seeks the name, revision, etc. to determine the temperture standards for the computer. Does this information reside somewhere in the XP without downloading and installing a separate system information utility?
    Sincerely,
    Scott

Hello Scott, if you are asking if there is any way that windows XP will tell you the temerature of your CPU/vid card, the answer in short is no. Not unless you have installed a thermometer (spelling?). How ever, in the CMOS (BIOS) the range of your CPU temperature can be set. Sorry if this isn't what you were asking, I think I may have mis-understood your question.

Location of Motherboard Type and Revision (continued)

Thank you RisenDeMon for your response,
I am not seeking to change settings, but asking if there is a listing of the name, revision number and other specific quantities that could characterize what kind of motherboard is installed on this computer.
The standard user sequence of start button> all programs> accessories> system tools> system information provides "tons" of data, but I couldn't locate motherboard specific areas.
    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely,
    Scott

    Everest Home Edition (from Lavalys)

    Scott,

Here's a *free* utility that will tell you everything you want to know about your system (and more). Doesn't need to be installed... just stick in its own folder and click on the executable (.exe). This is a great 'take along' program if you have a thumbdrive or diagnostic CD. You can download it HERE . Enjoy :D

    Thanks Mr B

    Hello Mr.B,
Lavalys everest home edition was just what I needed to find! I used to have it on my pc until the reformat and reinstallation removed all the former applications. It immediately displays "motherboard" with all the associated quantities and specifications. Kept thinking it should be listed somewhere in the Windows XP systems information, but this application solves the question.
    You've been a great help.
    Thanks again, :)
    Scott
