    I have Win2000 Professional Installed , with MS Office 2000 .
All running well .I created a new user. When I log on as that user Windows Installer tries to run. I cancel it and I get a dialog box saying I needto put a disc in to instal System Files Update.
I have reinstalled Win2000 and MS Office 2000. No change.
Help will be greatly appreciated !!. Duncan

Which disc is it asking for and what happens when you put that disk in the cd drive?

Microsoft put out a clean-up utility that will handle programs that are 'stuck' in this mode. The info about it is here

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

This will bring up all programs that were installed, using MS Installer and that could be stuck. Be careful and try to find the program that may be causing this issue.

Does it not happen when you log in as your old username?

    Good luck

The software that my company develops and I support will prompt you for a cd when you create a new user profile. It'll won't run and will keep prompting fore a cd till you pop in the cd......

Is the new profile you created an Administrator?

Firstly Windows Installer comes up saying "Preparing to install "
I click "OK" and a new window opens with "The featureyou are trying to use (I was'nt trying to do anything !!) is on a D-ROM or oyher removable disk thatis not available. Insert "System Files Update" disk and click OK.
Next a new window says it can't find the path , try again or find the installation package "OSP.MSI" from which you can instal the product System Files Update.
Hope that helps. I appreciate your help.
