ok, i have a slight problem with my active directory (i think) and its getting very annoying very quickly. i have a domain set up at home (JESTER) and i have a computer that i log onto my server with. this computer logs in my user fine. just recently i tried adding another user to active directory and logging in with that account, but it says, "The domain JESTER is currently unavaliable ". but then i log back in with my regular account and its all good. i thought it would be a policy thing, so i added the new users to all the groups (Administrators, Domain Users and Domain Admins) of my other users. still no go. then i looked at the log on times. all clear there. so i was just wondering what this could be, thanks in advance....

Are you sure both accounts from the domain?
Remove the computer from the domain and then add it again.
You forgot to tell us the server and client OS

Did you have removed your client from the domain and added again?
Are you online with your computer?
I think your case have to do with connection.
Login with the domain account that is working then try to reach the domain controller computer (w2k3) can you do that?
You have allready a local profile for you domain account on the client machine but the new account have no profile at all so must be validated on the domain controller and then created a new profile, after this happens you can login offline also without any problems unless you have some kind of policy.

    Hi,

I couldnt tell if you were able to successfully log on using a different domain account... but either way,

i would recommend a few things:

make sure that DNS is setup correctly - the Windows Server 2003 machine that is a domain controller should have DNS installed, and a zone created for the domain, and make sure that it has the _tcp, _udp, _sites, _msdcs inside the zone.

Then, make sure that your Windows XP client is using the windows server 2003 machine for DNS.

In my experience, name resolution issues account for 99% of these issues.

    Best regards
