    Hello,

I was going through my add/remove programs and noticed something called Web Offer. I'm guessing it should be removed but when you press remove/change it does nothing. How do I get rid of this (If I should of course)? Here is my log file...Thanks

    P.S

I know I should get rid of Kazaa but was stupid and paid the $30 for it so it has to stay.

First unzip HijackThis into it's own folder, it works better that way.
You have a trojan running on your computer in addition to Web Offer

Download the trial version of ewido security suite.
Install ewido security suite and start the program from the icon on your desktop, then check for and download updates. Close for now.
    Ewido Setup

    Disable System Restore.

Open HJT, and click on 'Open misc tools section', then click on "Delete a file on reboot', a File Open window will appear. Copy/Paste the following into it.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spider.exe

Then click on Open, and you will be prompted to reboot, select No at this time. Do the same for these.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\h64mlgh1164.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ezPopStub.exe

Rescan with HJT, and remove these items.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VBouncer] C:\PROGRA~1\VBouncer\VirtualBouncer.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [Web Offer] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ezPopStub.exe /UninstPOP2 C:\Program Files\Web Offer
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\h64mlgh1164.dll

Reboot into Safe Mode, and do the ewido scan.

    When done, delete these folders.
    C:\Program Files\Web Offer
    C:\Program Files\VBouncer
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking

Reboot into Normal mode, and enable System Restore.

Please post a new HJT log.

    New HJT Log

I went to fix my computer today according to your suggestions and found that when I rescanned with HijackThis 2 of the 4 files were not on the list. If you could look it over again that would be great!

Have HJT 'delete a file on reboot' as before with this one.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\micshext.dll

Rescan with HJT, and remove this one.
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Setup - C:\WINDOWS\system32\micshext.dll

    Then reboot.

    About these.O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAZAA] C:\Program Files\KaZaA\kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

The name P2P Networking doesn't mean all it does Peer to Peer Networking, it is the adware downloading componet of Kazaa. I really do not trust them to not change this because you paid for Kazaa. I believe you will get reinfected, but that is your choice.
More on this on these pages.
    http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/P2P Networking/

This last one says it is not needed at all for Kazaa to work.

    Kazaa

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAZAA] C:\Program Files\KaZaA\kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

If I remove these will the program continue to function or is there an alternative program. We use Kazaa a lot and it would be awful to lose it! On the other hand it is awful to browse the internet and spend half the time closing pop ups.

There is K Lite, I believe the Resurrection is the latest.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAZAA] C:\Program Files\KaZaA\kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

As long as those two are running, this will reappear, and it is not good.

Have you tried running Kazaa as a Limited User? Create/Log in as a Limited User, and try it. It may not work if it insists on making system wide changes, as a Limited User account cannot do this.
