Does anybody know how to resolve a "runtime error" message when I insert a cd? The cd I'm trying to access is a technical manual and I also get the message "program E:SomExplorer.exe" Any advice would be appreciated

Could this be a typo and the error references "simexplorer "?

I am not familiar with this tool or program, but am throwing this out there in case it rings any bells for you. I assume if you have or are using this, you would know how it works or would be aware of what it does, can and will do. Possibly a manual, readmes, help files or doc's somewhere on hardrive should be sought and reviewed.

Okay...that was strike one on my part. Let's try this....

SomExporer Support - The NICEIC Technical Manual
This CD-ROM uses a custom-built browser to display the information contained on the CD-ROM. The CD-ROM essentially creates a temporary server on your PC, which the browser communicates with. Everything you need to use the Technical Manual runs from the CD-ROM.
    http://www.somexplorer.co.uk/NICEIC/intro.htm

Lots of nfo on the support site. Check out the left paned topics and links and see if your running the cd correctly.

If after running through the links and doing as directed and if you continue to get a runtime, my guess is it has something to do with versions of flash and adobe it expects to use:
CD specs call for Flash 4 and Adobe Reader 5 (both included on CD-ROM), with an option to install these. Perhaps yours are higher (newer) and not compatible if this cd is going to be version fussy or you allowed these to install overwriting yours....not sure exactly what kind of problem or botch may be involved but this link/sublinks and it's forum are good starting points.

    goddez1,

I dont think he means its a blooper but that its a good explanation i.e., knocked the "L" out of that = a home run (best there is!).

savagcl--I guess I am too subtle.
The page to which goddez1 referred rodger has "SomExporer Support " right at the top. Even though the site's name is somexplorer.co.uk.
Notice any letter missing in the site heading?
Oh well, just add a few more posts to my total.

    Hi Jim, savagcl,
Nothing wrong with your subtleness. I was just unable to figure out what you were trying to point out.

    Editted out....not needed.

Thanks, savagcl, for the ego boost. I can always use those. :)

goddez1--The first link is fine. (Your new link is not.) Changing .htm to html is not the issue.
The name of the manual (if you ever get to the site) is "SomExporer Support - The NICEIC Technical Manual ". Perhaps a misteak on their part.
More posts to my credit. ;)

Ha! To funny.... :) Didnt even notice that and probably wouldn't have questioned it if I had. This was a copyNpaste from site. The sites spelling choice not mine. It's at the top of every link and spelled this way on each one.

That's a heck of an Eagle eye you have. You missed your opportunity to drive me crazy. Could have just said "no the L on the url is not the issue" and left me staring at the thing. At least let me get the last post in I need the "posts credits ", your way ahead of me. :) :)

    NOTE to PETE,
If your looking in on this and wish to edit out all the side chit chat (from post #5 on down), you have my blessing. How ever momentarily fun I found this to be, as it turns out none of this has anything to do with the issue or answer. The choice is yours.
