    Hi
Hope this in the right place?

When I try to do a print screen, shift-prtscn and then paste to word pad all I get is the last copy I did, not the print screen.

I tried this on just my desk top and got a "Scrap" icon, when I tried to open it MSAS asked for a permission to run a script program. never had this come up before.

Any ideas what is going on?

When I do Print Screen, I paste to the freeware Irfanview. But you could try another graphics program, like Paint.

    Geri,

Try... 'Alt + PrtScr', that should give you a copy of the 'window' you're working in, then paste that into Wordpad.

I think Mr. B nailed the problem, but for anyone else reading this thread, some keyboards (like my MS one) have extra functions on some of the keys, and my "printscreen" won't work unless I have the "f-lock" key on. If it is off, my F# keys have different functions than on a regular keyboard, and printscreen becomes an "insert" key. But, like I said, Mr. B pointed out that the correct key sequence is "alt-printscreen ", not "shift ".

    Geri--
You have too many steps there, although I do not know if that is the problem.
Clicking PrintScreen copies the whole screen to Clipboard. You can then Paste that into WordPad, Irfanview, etc. The pertinent thing is that you have copied the whole screen. Shift+PrintScreen seems to do the same thing--you should be copying the whole screen.
Simultaneously clicking Alt+PrintScreen will copy only the top window--if you have more than one window open on the screen (again to ClipBoard).
"print screen, shift-prtscn " I suspect is redundant. You have cancelled the first "print screen" and you are getting only the shift+PrintScreen in the ClipBoard. However you should be copying the same content. If you are not, we will have to look into this further.

    Geri--
Both work, but when combined with clicking PrintScreen, Shift will do the same as clicking PrintScreen by itself (copy the whole screen). Alt will copy only the top window.
