Hi, I am back with a update, I had been working late therefore I had no time to do anything, just work eat and sleep
Well today I replaced my USB2 PCI Card with a second hand one from EBay that looked good to me 5 Port 4 external 1 internal same as my original, removed the card from PCI slot No.4 and inserted the new one into the same slot reconnected my front USB1 Hub to the internal connector and booted up and Bingo Windows instantly recognised the card and installed the drivers for it.
My Canon 8000F Scanner has now been working happily on USB2, I have made 6 scans so far with no problems wheras before it would kick out the Twain Drivers after the first scan.
There are 2 changes in Device Manager from my previous Card
    No. 1 the driver date is : 1/06/2002 instead of : 1/07/2001
No. 2. (old) NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller (B1)
(new) Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
these changes mean anything to you.
I am very happy at the moment that at long last things are looking up again.
From past experience if I get past the second scan in USB2 it is OK I hope it stays that way.
    regards

    That's great news :D

I suspect the new card has a different chipset - the driver is the latest XP driver - same as on my m/c for the onboard USB 2 ports.

If I were a betting man I would put money on the fact that your troubles are over - and I'm not, but I still think they are :D

    Thanks for the update.
