    Hi-I have gone into system32 folder and deleted solitaire.exe, but the programme is still on the machine! If I type sol into the start/run command prompt it pops up again. Any ideas? :(

    eleland - Welcome to the Board :)

    I'm not a W2k user, but XP is very similar of course ...

    Have you tried the 'official' route, which in XP would be ....

    Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > Accessories > Games, expand and uncheck Solitaire?

    Removing Games on W2k

    We uninstall games on all our new loads of Windows 2000 Pro.
    Here's the procedure we follow:

    Open WINNT\inf\sysoc.inf

    Find the following paragraph:

    Games=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,games.inf,HIDE,7
    AccessUtil=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,accessor.inf,HIDE,7
    CommApps=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,communic.inf,HIDE,7
    media_clips=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,mmopt.inf,HIDE,7
    MultiM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,multimed.inf,HIDE,7
    AccessOpt=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,optional.inf,HIDE,7
    Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,HIDE,7
    MSWordPad=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wordpad.inf,HIDE,7

    Remove "˜HIDE’ and its following comma from the 3 lines in bold

    Got to Settings, Control Panel, Add\Remove Programs,
    Add\Remove Windows Components

    Highlight the "˜Accessories and Utilities’ Componant,
    Click Details button, uncheck Games, Ok, Next, Finish

    I just delete the executable in system32 and in the dllcache folder at the same time.

    The solitaire game in my system32 directory is listed as sol.exe (not solitaire.exe) :D

    Good luck
