Norton System Works, One button check up

I kept getting this error message running one button checkup. Tried copying this file from a computer that doesnt get the error, no luck. Checked the Norton site, they state the problem has been reported, but they are unable to duplicate it. Anyone else getting this?

Re-install Norton

Hi,

Haven't ever got the message - what component of OBC does that happen with?

 

Error message appears during Hard Disk Integrity scan. But it shows no errors, then starts Register Ingregrity but stalls out. Have reinstalled twice but no luck..

Try running Norton Disk Doctor outside of OBC. Let it complete - I am curious if the error would happen while NDD is running, since that is really what the Hard Disk Integrity Scan is checking. By the way which release are you running - 2001, 2002?

If this doesn't work then just to let you know, I had to rip out NSW once for a different problem - one that Symantec was aware of but couldn't fix- I managed to correct the problem - let's go there after giving NDD a try.

 

Ran NDD alone. No errors reported. Original error did not appear. Running 2002. Ran OBC again. Same error. Think I will turn off all other programs, and try OBC again..

From what I've read IPF's occur usually because of memory issues and/or conflicts with programs accessing memory that are running concurrently. Symantec's info was poor and I let them know it. Here is a link for some more information that might be helpful. If you decide to re-install it, let me know - it takes some work to clean your system of Norton.
