I've followed instructions for some other users but when I run Hijack, I don't get any of the listed files. I've also had problems with my monitor not recognizing the computer 'no signal'. Checked connections and tried monitor on another computer. Don't know if this is an associated problem. My log is:

    TonyT,
I deleted the two files and downloaded the version of HijackThis that you recommended. I disconnected my desktop from the internet and things appear to be getting better but I still don't have control of my desktop (still have the blue screen with the 'smitfraud' message. My current Hijack log is:

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Download the trial version of ewido security suite.
Install ewido security suite and start the program from the icon on your desktop, then check for and download updates. Close for now.
    Ewido Setup

Reboot into Safe Mode, and double click RunThis.Bat in the smitrem folder on the desktop. Quite a few things are going to happen, if you see a 'not found' message this is fine.

Then do the Ewido scan, and then post a new HJT log.

Yeppers, same guy, although he used an older version of HJT on that page. I gather we won't be seeing him back on this thread. Wininet.Dll perhaps?
