This problem has me stumped. Each time I try to run the Windows Backup Utility, my system restarts. I am logged in as Administrator.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

Did you look in your event logs for any clues? You could also shut off the auto-reboot and write down the exact blue screen error, too.

    thanks Johanna,

No blue screen on that reboot. Nothing pertaining to the problem in System Logs but I have a memory leak. Here is the App log:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Userenv
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1517
    Date: 7/1/2005
    Time: 9:29:46 PM
    User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Computer: AMERICAN
    Description:
Windows saved user AMERICAN\**** registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.
