I have been using nightlies, because I don't want to install a preliminary build. I am using a .zip file (unzipped, of course), so I can dump it anytime I want without affecting 1.02, and, I use a separate profile. The beauty of this new TB is that I can select 1.02 as default mail, and it will not mind a bit.
This has never been possible with Firefox vs Deer Park. Stepping over each other 's toes was the norm.
Potentially, the future 1.1 is dynamite. I love the spell checker on the fly, but antiphishing and possibility of scanning mail for viruses before it hits the mail box are impressive.
I am, really, looking forward at the final version. For now, I will get a new nightly every three or four days. I get the win32.zip file.

That Alpha looks great. I am tempted.

I have for a couple of years now used Mulberry to manage my IMAP mail - it is complex and powerful with a quirky interface and lots of hidden buttons. I wont cache folders in online mode and it aint pretty - but it reaches parts other clients dont!

But this ne TBird is tempting with its simple provision for mutiple personalities and the spell as you type and it looks great.

But it still wont do everthing Mulberry does so I will have to think about this very hard, and will probably stick with Mulberry and all its infuriations!

Once you have a mail client which works, there is no reason to try another one. I have tried everything which is free, and settled on Thunderbird. I have never tried Mulberry, so I cannot comment. What do it do that TB can't?

Untill recently Spell as you type a multiple identities (without establishing dummy accounts)

And now - well identities can be tied to folders. Folders can be opened in tabs and left open - necessary becuase there is no persistant online cache - thay say so you can confidence you are reading what is current on the server. It is incredibly configurable and flexible, but it buys these advantages at the cost of complexity and a very steep learning curve.

They say it is the only client that was designed principally for IMAP, though it will manage POP3. Most clients have IMAP bolted on as a clumsy afterthought. Tbird is very good with IMAP.

Mulberry Version 4 has an integrated iCal Client

Try it for 30 days free

But, I cannot find anything even close to Tbird, unless you pay for it. 30-day trial? I may take a look, for comparison sake.

Ib am sure that they are supportive, when you pay for the it. At this point, I don't see any reason to try something which I would have to pay for. But, I can understand that one would use it, if owned.

Access to the Mulberry Forum is free. You are just as likely to get help from other members as from the programmer. Many folk are University IT managers and know their stuff.

Thank you. I am not concerned about support. But, I tried other Mail Clients, and I never saw a reason to go past the free version (like Eudora), or a the shareware period. But, I promise to check out Mulberry, if I have a chance.
