I don't know for some reason but when I boot up my PC , the User ID on the Welcome screen is gone. So I tried the following without success:

    a. Ctrl-Alt-Del and typed in the userId and password .
    b. Rebooted and use safe mode and the same problem
    c. I also rebooted (F8) and choose the last good configuration
    d. I went to Microsoft Knowledgebase and said that this is a known bug
if you install PC Anywhere. (But I don't have PC Anywhere)

Any Help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated...

Does this mean you are being logged on automatically?

Start > Run > type in control userpasswords2 > OK

Is the box 'Users must enter a user name .....' checked?

In the absence of any other responses to your thread the only suggestion I could find after extensive Googling was to effect a Repair Install of XP
