Two nerdy questions. How to put the Display settings icons onto the Taskbar (1). Then, where can I find, and how to put the Taskbar Clockface into that wich Ive seen in so many screenshots of XP (2) ? With the hour, minutes, and second hands clockface showing.

    Q1....
Put XP Home onto the computer here. Ive been used to being able to change Display settings on the fly. But with the defaults here in XP home, the '" "Show Display Icon In Systray" " isn't seen from the preferences in Display (Control Panel-Display).

    Q2...
Figured out that I can 'Unlock and manuever the Taskbar around the Screen,so that it shows horizontally along the side of the Display. Or along the Top etc. The Clock however,I only have selectable 'Time/Regional etc settings from that 'Time/Clock setting in Control Panel. When what Im looking to select is the actual Clock Face type. The circular hour, minute, second hand clock Ive seen on many screen shots since XP came out. Along with putting the Taskbar to the vertical position to show it.

Cant find in Windows Help anywhere - at least where a query of words would do from it.

Is the ClockFace a different software from someone other than XP. ?

You can put the Display Properties into the Quick Launch bar, alongside the Start button by opening Control Panel > right click and drag the Display icon to the Quick Launch bar and create a shortcut there.

On the other hand with the ATI video card you should have an ATI icon in the Notification Area - by the clock and left or right click on that for a list of screen resolutions. I don't remember exactly as I use Matrox cards.

As far as the clock is concerned you must have seen a third party app - Google for XP + Clock.

    Edge Of Obsolesence

A program I was using for W98,called ''SideBar" " had a clock with hands on it wich I installed to it.

Think that WindowsBlinds.com probably has a set of clocks to install. But I really thought that XP had a configurable clock preference for their faces.

The ATI Catalyst Control Panel is a strange creature. It requires a 'line-out''(network/internet connection), on Start-Up. It has a show Icon within the Panel itself. Here, and now, only noticing, when I have my firewall as a priority to complete loading on a Start-UP. There is not a line-out,so the Display Icon will not show for in the SysTray.

Pretty weird.Have to do 1) Restart Runtime..(within ATI menu of Catalyst Control Panel).
    2) Access CCP...ATI on Programs Menu.
    - Preferences (Menu)
    ....Enable System Tray (Menu Selection).

Each starting of the CCP insists on connecting to something.

This may be different for a newer higher powered system hardware setup.

For W98SE this was an Option in the Display Appearance.

Had ScreenCapture for what 'SideBar'' clock looks like . Couldn't figure how to post it here. Thanks for reply. KaleidiScope.

There are a couple of different programs you can check out...

First, is Desktop Sidebar , this program is 'freeware' and offers an analog clock for XP.

Secondly there is a (very cool) program called Konfabulator which costs $20 and offers an amazing assortment of desktop 'widgets' (including a clock). HTH
