I had a piece of clipart on the desktop and by some mistake it has enlarged right across the desktop and on top of my normal desktop picture.
I cannot find a way to remove it - can anyone help please?

    Hi John,

My guess is that you've inadvertently set the clip art as Wallpaper.

Right click on a 'blank' area of the desktop (not on an icon) > Properties > Desktop.

Is the clip art shown in the monitor in that dialogue box (see attached jpeg) ?

If so scroll until you find the picture you want as wallpaper, highlight it and Apply.

Got to admit it sounds like Pete has the problem pegged but if not....

If thats not the problem the task button for what ever viewer or program you have used, to open and view this cilpart, is on the taskbar. Right click that tasktab and select "close" or

perhaps you will have a resize option which will allow for corner (mouse turns into an arrow) "grab and drag" resizing.

A right click on a blank area of taskbar has an option to allign multiple tasks vertically or horizontally etc. Open another program that requires two panes to be opened (such as notepad) and select one of these allignment options. That should get you access to the top titlebar where you can shrink or close this.

Shoot.. for that matter you may have right click option, when used on the oversized window, that allows for another size option.

Peter and Godezz - thanks for your replies, regretfully neither solved the problem. I had already been through the desktop file in Settings>Display>Desktop and the offending bowl of flowers certainly isn't there - I tried your solution Godezz, but couldn't make that work.
I have tried everything I can think of and this afternoon a colleague (who is quite a whiz-kid) was here and he couldn't get to the bottom of the problem.
I have a screen grab, but I can't find a way to display it!

Just out of curiosity what program were you using when working with this clipart? Does taskmans (cntrl/alt/del) list of running applications or processes not correspond to anything that would be displaying this picture?

Have you any idea what this piece of clip art is called? If you do and can locate it on your drive try renaming it and rebooting.

Looks like photshop. Do a control alt del bring up taskman and end task on photoshop. Got to admit it also looks like you have made this the wallpaper. Desktop icons are on top. Have you tried replacing your desktop wallpaper? Closing that folder (I think it's a folder) called Desktop clipart?

Ahh..Petes idea would be acomplishing all those things in one fell swoop. Sorry Pete, got caught up in the moment... :)

    Hello?????

Did anyone figure out where or what this picture was coming from? Is it fixed?

And why or why does that darn picture look so familiar? :)

As was stated earlier, this is definitely wallpaper. You should be able to set it to NONE in Display Properties. If not, well I never...

Sounds silly, but try using Irfanview to replace your wallpaper with a picture of your choosing.

I guess we can figure that 100x100 clipart does not make very good 1024x768 wallpaper, eh?

    Try Right-Clicking on the Desktop.
    Select Properties
    Select the Desktop Tab.

Thanks for all the suggestions - Yes, the mystery has been solved, I went to Settings>Display>Desktop again and checked each of the pictures, then I spotted a little tab at the bottom called "Customise Desktop "

I opened this, checked on the Web Tab and there was a very long file name ending in Clipart Flowers. I highlighted this, clicked on delete, and hey presto the clipart disappeared from the desktop!

    Thanks everyone for your help!
    :p :p :p
