for some reason the only site i can get audio and video for ff and mozilla is bbc. i know firefox home page is yahoo but cant get anything as far as video and audio (no launch radio) and some of the pages in yahoo games dont load completely and have to "this verison" because cant get regular one and some just sit there and look stupidly blank. i let it say the cookies needed (ff) and allow it to give them. could this be a yahoo thing because i firmly believe that they hate me and/or my computer,HAL! so ff has bbcamerica and mozilla has bbc-uk and they play games, videos and audios, must be british!

about the two netscapes, the 801 and the 801 which are now living nicely so far on my desktop, can i keep them? sort of like em and im getting the hang of that tabbed thingie much easier than hitting the back button.

now as to why i have two? because i didnt uninstall the 801,thought it would be like the explorer(not windows explorer) and maybe needed parts of the 801 it didnt oops so i sort of renamed the latest netscape browser802,and the older is netscape brower. but thinking about it sort of glad explorer doesnt do it like that think of all the little browsers you'ld have on your desktop.

if you can think of something i can do with ff and mozilla or should i just leave em there? need music and games!! and any reason i cant keep both netscapes?

    Jan,

Since you installed 8.0.2 OVER 8.0.1, I suggest that you uninstall everything Netscape 8, using Add/Remove. Then delete everything Netscape 8 from C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape Browser. Then REBOOT the PC.

    Now install Netscape 8.0.2.

About your video/audio in FF and Mozilla. Do you know which plugins you have installed in order to play video and audio? In FF, clear the Location Bar, and type: about:plugins. This will list the plugins you have installed.

In Mozilla click on Help | About Plugins.

I have a Media Test Page here with multiple video/audio tests. See if any of them work for you using FF or Mozilla: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/mediatests.html

Anything related to Yahoo is restricted, because they will not accept anything more recent than NS7.1, and forget about Mozilla or Firefox. They are so tied to Microsoft, that it is refreshing to work on a Microsoft site. As you can see I dislike anything Yahoo, and for other good reasons as well.
As for the Netscape8.x, did you rename the desktop shortcut? If you did, you have only Netscape8.02, but the old shortcut remains. If you have different a download location, you may have two NS. The only way to make sure is to check the hard drive, and the Add/Remove. There is only one entry for Netscape Browser.
So, it is up to you to keep both. I doubt you have both.
Both it is interesting that Tab browsing in NS8.x turns off, and you like it.
One more note about Yahoo. I don't know if they have anything to do with mtv, vh1 or cmt, which will not play in Mozilla or Firefox, alleging the need for WMP9, while I have WMP10. The three plugins .dll files are in place, but these sites will do well only in IE. All my questions to them have been unanswered.

ramona, didnt even think to get the two ns in add/remove programs. only 1 listed and i removed it and deleted the 2 icons on desktop. will go into programs and get rid of the rest of it.

i put the firefox thur every test and got every plugin available on that lovely site you had the link for, play audio video got plugin(im sure every one known to god and mankind) plays bbc lovely as ever, can not play yahoo,vh1 or cmt. the only test it didnt do was the second from the last, just words and white screen. and i thank you very much. there is one more site i want to try it on (the ff) i might have to edit this but i will be back in a few.

ramona ff plays videos at bellsouth.net!!!!!!!cant get wmplayer to go full screen but plays them.yes! :) :)

mozilla does not play videos @bellsouth player comes up but does not load and neither ff nor mozilla can play webtunes(iexplorer only)

    Jan,
if you follow you said you were going to do, you will have no NS8.0x.

As for the Media. It is a weird situation, with websites which use a WMP-based player, because they have no idea what they are doing. It is possible that one needs WMP9, and not 10, but they don't say that.
However, I did visit the new, redesigned Yahoo site, and found some good stuff and some dumb stuff. They are showing now video from CNN.com, but testing was refreshing in the fact that they gave users some options. I first I get that they detect that I don't have Flash 6. I have not had it since I installed Flash 7!
And the same as other Yahoo sites, that I don't have WMP9, but they gave me an option to ignore them, although I was cautioned that I may have problems, which I did not have. Of course, IE has no problem.
I don't know if the rest of yahoo.com has, finally, understood that they are prejudiced in favor of IE.
My ISP has finally allowed me to view Media, using non-IE browsers.
The moral of the story is that many websites have been set up in a certain way, which cannot be satisfactorily rendered by non-IE browsers. It is not the browser, but the website. I hope you understand what I mean.

what i dont understand is why yahoo is homepage for ff when it cant do anything hardly. cant play launch, barely play games, cant do videos of anykind oh thats right they let it have a beta toolbar!! whoopie

about the netscape 802 i d/l and installed it and so far (kow) it seems to working okay. ill put it though its paces later on in the day.

about yahoo oh i dont want to even go there so i wont but i think they hate me or they hate my computer,Hal. and for cmt, i cant play their videos on anything, not ns80x or the explorer all that plays is a commercial and after that nothing no music video click play and you get commerical again. i sent them an e-mail about it but havent heard anything. wonder if i should hold my breath? but :)

    Jan,

Have you installed the ActiveX plugin for Windows Media Player? If not, that could be part of the problem with these sites. Check in about:plugins again and look for this entry:

Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin support

    File name: C:\PROGRAM FILES\MOZILLA FIREFOX\FIREFOX\plugins\npmozax.dll
Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin module

If not, you can install, or download the plugin here:
    http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/plugin.htm#download

Some users report that turning off Norton Internet Security Professional allowed them to be able to use the VH-1 site. Others reported that the ActiveX plugin fixed the problem for them.

Don't, it may be the end of you. I have sent several e-mails, and they don't answer, but hopefully they will do something. To me it seems obvious that it nothing more than laziness about the website, when they tell me that they could not detect Flash6 or Windows Media Player9.
My dislike of Yahoo goes back to the the days when they stop allowing POP mail set up, unless you pay for the option. I never received any e-mail about their changes, but a friend of mine who had received a notice told me that Yahoo changed the preferences allowing all the Junk Mail through. I have not forgiven them for this. But, I, periodically, check the mail and the website. Unfortunately, they are almost unapproachable.
