So yesterday I installed my windows updates. Well now my computer isn't working.
Several sites I go to are not working right. The menu on www.livejournal.com and www.opendiary.com are both not working.
I can't get any of the games or item pages to load on www.neopets.com.
i can't see text in yahoo messenger. I can send and receive but the words don't show in the message window.
and last but the worst of them all, Norton AntiVirus won't load up. Or scan, even in safe mode.

Now, maybe I just got a virus that happened to show up at the same time I updated windows. So I thought I'd check and see if anyone else had updated and ran into similar problem.

    Any thoughts kids?

I may be Wild Butt guessing here but, is it possible that Norton needs to be shutdown and Windows restarted BEFORE updating ?

    Hi the_pressure,

but i have a friend who said they tried uninstalling some updates and it messed up their computer so bad they had to reinstall windows.
Depends on how it was done - there is a right way and wrong way to do things like this.

On criticals MS provides Add/Remove entries + as I outlined, after using the Add/Remove, use the SR point that the patch created. Do this for one - and see.

Well now my computer isn't working.
Several sites I go to are not working right.

Ok, well that's a big clue that its the IE cumulative.

PS: answer in your thread - not another one - hard to keep track otherwise.

For anyone else reading this, the_pressure posted in the thread I referenced in my first post.

    Regards - Charles

so far i've been backing up my files in case of the worst. grabbing my drivers for some of my hardware, figureing out where i can get the cheepest copy of windows, and that sort of thing if push comes to shove.

as far as SR, i click to open it and nothing happens the first time. so i click it again, which brings up an empty window. and then nothing happens. but it won't close so i have to close it though task manager.
