    Hi All,
Have any of you photo freaks tried this yet? It only works on XP!
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.asp
People on the Popular Photography forums are praising it for its speed, and ease of use. It only works for some Canon files and NEF at the moment, but is apparently much faster than Nikon Capture.
Unfortunately it won't work for me! I've downloaded and installed it twice, but I get no shortcut to start it, and Windows won't open the .exe file in the folder.
    Any ideas why?

It works just fine - but is not a standalone program that you can invoke from a shortcut or whatever. It is another version of Windows Picture and Fax viewer which opens up when you double click on a RAW file. See the Readme file for supported cameras.

    Thanks Pete,

That had not even occurred to me ! As they say in France 'Un coup de vieux' or an attack of old age!
