I have inherited a compaq presario with win98 loaded that will not boot.

it seems when you shut it off the presario "saves to disk" a memory image so that when you turn it back on, it loads the image back into memory and runs from there.

Is there a way to force this thing to boot from cd ???? or from floppy for that matter.

if i put a boot disk in the floppy or the os cd in the drive and turn the sysytem on, i am getting a "restore from disk in progress" message, and what i want is to boot from the cd.

thanks in advace for any help

Press the F10 key as soon as you see the red COMPAQ screen. This should take you into the bios.
