    I am on vacation and have had to reinstall netscape. I do not have my notes inorder to edit the preferences to delete the opening advertisement in my e mail program. I know I have to add a line of script but do not have it with me.

    Thanks

    Bettina

    Netscape 4.7

    Bettina,

    Here is your script:

    user_pref( "mailnews.start_page.enabled ", false);

    If I understand what it is, is it not the same as unchecking the "mail Start Page" in Preferences|Mail and Newsgroups
    I have never had to go to the prefs.js file, and the simple act of unchecking does the job.

    Westside,

    Not in Netscape Communicator 4.7x. You have to add the script to prefs.js in order to remove the ad.
