    On with the Horror show!

My daughters 19" LCD monitor (FPD1830) blacked out on us. Its maybe 1 1/2
years old. Nothing shows at all just like when theres no power.

A google did turn up a similar problem but no solution (except to buy a new
one for $350.00 that is). Buying a new one would be faster and cost just as
much but at least a good monitor could be selected.

I took it apart and found a fuse - replacing it did not help. So it has to be
    something other than the fuse.

I know its the monitor because another 19" (samsung this time) works just
    fine.

So, do i have a new heavy weight paper weight for my desk?

Try a different power cable for the monitor.
Try a different cable from the monitor to the computer.
Try the monitor on a different system.

If the monitor is dead on all three of the above... Probably a paperweight.

usual causes of monitor failure are their internal power supplies or a capacitor near the power supply, either case it's faster and almost the same cost to just buy a new monitor.

Yes, I did all the usual checks, refresh rate, cables, smell, etc.
Worked great when it worked. All it takes is 1 faulty component and boom!

    thanks, TonyT
